The first story itself is titled ” The old man and his God” and I don’t know why the same ends up being the name of the book exactly but anyway coming to the content, I didn’t find it very engaging or interesting. The more important lessor are be content with the things which is with you.


I remember I’d got this book as an award for being an avid reader I was the nerd who read the maximum number of books in my mutrhy library that year. There is another lld of how an old lady in a village in Karnataka, out of her sense of responsibility towards the community asks her to get toilets built for the women and how some ladies think that this is her business venture.

The selflessness and selfishness, compassion and cruelty, knowledge and ignorance all are shown distinctly.

Discovering the Spirit of India is a compilation of about 25 stories which have been told simply. Reading those stories I pondered if I can be a part of them someday.

Though there were many such anecdotes and instances, this one truly touched my soul. But even to them and others or to people who wish to try their hands on any book by the author,I would recommend ‘Wise and Otherwise’ than this as it was far better and more insightful.

And just as the blurb claims, the book is a mixed bag of stories collected from a lifetime of experiences which delves upon the various facets of human nature and in a way provides a true reflection to the souls of people of India.

Talking about the book, this one was also a collection of short stories which are nothing but the real life encounters, incidents and experiences of the author. And there are sections where one wonders what the point of a chapter or of sections of a chapter is.


Quotes from The Old Man and H I would have still ignored the writing to an extent if the stories were satisfactory enough. But i would like to add one more title for her, She is also a motivational writer who throw rays on rare visited area of life.
